Rear Monroe load-adjusting shocks

I have an 84 720 4WD king cab and was wondering if anyone has tried this rear shock on a 4wd? Monroe says RWD, but I was hoping these would work since I'd rather go this route rather than an add-a-leaf kit to beef up my tired rear suspension.

It will help, but the leafs are what is really what needs replacing if the suspension is tired. Ideally you want to use the 4wd shocks, however, because the size and stiffness may vary.

Thanks. I`'ll probably get an add-a-leaf kit and replace the bushings while I`m at it.
