Rear mirror turn down in Reverse intermittent

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Ok so I just got my EX and admit I'm a noob, but the first week I had it, every time I put it in reverse the rearview mirrors turned down, which was helpful for backing up. Now it doesn't seem to do it, except occasionally. I dug around the Settings screens and couldn't find anything about this. Any idea how to turn it on and off?

Welcome to the Forum. We're glad your here.

Somebody is playing around with the Mirror Control Knob. You need to set it and leave it alone. If there's two drivers for the Car, utilize the #1 and #2 Driver Buttons to adjust the Mirrors.

In your 2012 EX35 Manual, look up Page 3-24 which is in the "Pre-driving checks and adjustments" Chapter.

...a copy and paste from the Owners Manual.

Reverse tilt-down feature (if so equipped)

When backing up the vehicle, the right or left outside mirror will turn downward automatically to provide better rear visibility.

1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.

2. Move the selector lever to the R (Reverse) position.

3. Choose the right or left outside mirror by operating the outside mirror control switch.

4. The selected outside mirror surface moves downward.

When one of the following conditions has occurred, the selected outside mirror surface will return to its original position.

. The Gear selector lever is moved to any position other than R (Reverse).
. The outside mirror control switch is set to the center position.
. The ignition switch is pushed to the OFF position.

Yep, that worked! My parents are visiting and adjustments were made to fit them in the back seat, which is why my spouse and I kept messing with the settings. Anyway, thanks!
