so some of you may know that i rebuilt my engine replacing seals etc. anywho. i had a box of seals and i found one that fit the rear main housing, but when installed it started leaking. so i pulled the transmission to makesure, and bought an 88 pulsar se rear main and installed it. it is still leaking. wtf. and yes it was installed properly both times. and it's for sure coming from the rear main seal, not the housing or oilpan.

do you know what my problem may be?

Did you grease it? If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to get some grease (I prefer synthetic axle grease) and fill the groove on the inside of the seal with it. That should also be done to the cam seals and front main seal as well.

You might also check to see if the crankshaft surface is grooved. Mine was and I had to have mine welded and ground down. IDK if it would have leaked, but I already had the motor apart and it only cost me like $50 to get it fixed.
