After installing my engine, the oil pan was hitting the steering rack. There was a major oil leak which I repaired by welding the oil pan (I couldnt find a replacement) and installing new engine mounts. The car is still leaking oil, but now it is from where the transmission meets the engine. Has anyone had this problem? If so what do you suggest?

You sure the oil isnt leaking from somewhere else and blowing back there when you're driving? Could the oil pan be tweaked and oil leaking toward the back and running back and dripping off the lowest point behind the oil pan....the spot where the transmission and engine meet? It could very well be the rear main seal but it'd be nice to eliminate everything else before having to pull the engine out and transmission off to look at the seal.

If it is the rear main, don't pull the engine first. Try taking off the transmission by itself, it's not THAT much of a pain. Not as bad as pulling and reinstalling an engine IMO

If it's the rear main seal, there wouldn't be oil on the oil pan, but on the transmission and back.

There is a small opening at the bottom of the transmission that allows oil and other fluids to leak out of the transmission. If the oil is leaking out of that opening, it is most likely the rear main seal.

You'll want to pull the transmission, clutch, & flywheel. It's easy to replace once you get to it.

Well If the oil there is collecting and leaking out, then is it an engine leak or a transmission leak? I have one that looks like its leaking out of my slave boot on the bellhousing.

If so, ill drop the transmission to fix it, but i just wanted to check before I went ripping stuff out.

Lastly, if the bolts weren't put back in very tight on the transmission to engine mounts when I changed the clutch a few weeks ago, would that lead to it leaking a lot out of the bell housing? My friends were helping me, and one of them forgot to tighten a few of the bolts.
