I have a little bit of an oil leak around the back of the block. i figured it was the rear main seal and since i WAS gointo do the 5spd swap i dropped the transmission. while i was looking around its more than obvious that the oil pan needs to be resealed but once the turbo is in then i cna do that.

My question is if the rear main seal is leaking would there be a lot of oil on the flywheel? my flywheel and torque converter are all clean. think it coud all jsut be from the pan?

are you fairly certain the oil pan is leaking?? reseal the pan then check for leaks. If no more leaks are evident, then problem solved!! I'd say do one repair at a time if you're troubleshooting, sort of trial & error, unless there are other *obvious* problems.

the pan is coated from front to back in oil. its not dripping or anything. i dont want to reseal it now because i have an nsport kit coming in and ill have to take it off all over again. its jsut right now i dont have the transmission in and could do the rear main seal while its out.

Steam clean the bottom of the car and add that engine additive that'll glow under a black light. Then drive the car for a few days and get under there with a black light and investigate where the leak(s) are coming from.
