I don't know if I should bother replacing the rear main seal or not..

It doesn't leak anything under the car when it's running or anything, but I have the motor pulled and the trans off and I noticed the smallest amount of fluid in the trans housing by the Throw out bearing..

I know the factory seal is best if it's not leaking but I don't want to put the motor and trans back in then have to replace it a couple months later..

Its cheap and easy to do.....I say why not? I would also inspect the pan's seal to the block also to make sure that isnt the issue

FWIW I always put a thin bead of RTV on the outer edge of the seal before install...

Okay, sounds good I'll prob just go for it. The pan I took off not too long ago, and I know that thing had a good seal.
and i'll def. add the rtv to the seal once I'm done, good idea thanks.
