I have a 2001 3.5l Pathfinder with a manual transmission and 4 wheel drive Arizona truck. I have seen labor estimates from 5.8 hours to 10 hours. My mechanic is telling me it is 16 hours. What is the actual time? I can pull the transmission with hand tools and a hydraulic transmission jack in about 1.5 hours or less (Pulled it and installed it 3 times in 6.5 hours) After reading the service manual it appears 8 to 10 hour would not be unreasonable, less with air tools and the right equipment. Does anyone know what the actual flat rate is?

It is about an 8 hour job. I had mine done as part of a transmission replacement. The shop suggested to have it done because with the transmission out, it was saving 8 hours of labor if it ever needed done. They only charged me for the seal itself.
