Would this explain why even with the 'traction control' (the car with the turn lines button on the dash) off I wasn't able to really slide the car in the 5" of snow I just drove home through?biggie wrote:According to a tech at local Infiniti dealership, all M56 come with LSD standard. I probably didn't have LSD on my M35x, but my M35x would easily do donuts if I turned off traction control (VDC on that car). I'd put it in snow mode to make the split 50/50 and do nice tiny donuts lol.biggie wrote:Yours is awd. Completely different
I'm sure you have a rear lsd, but the awd system is designed to send power to front wheels when rear spins.
Well that's the point of ATTESSA AWD, it has active diffs that are always adjusting power front to back.IlyaKol wrote:I can't get this car to break the tires loose from a stand still at all.
That's the thing, on the Y50 if I turned off VDC and left snowmode off, I could still get the rear end to step out. On this one, I can't no matter what I do. It behaves the same way with stability on or off. Although, my last AWD didn't have an LSD so (I don't think it did anyway)...maybe that's why.AlphaSnacks wrote:Well that's the point of ATTESSA AWD, it has active diffs that are always adjusting power front to back.IlyaKol wrote:I can't get this car to break the tires loose from a stand still at all.
Mine is RWD. Perks of living in Florida means I don't have to worry about bad weather, like snow and ice.
I had an FX35 2006 in NYC and it would do the same in poor weather. The older AWD systems were a bit slower to manage power.IlyaKol wrote:

From recent talks with Infiniti, all M56 have rear VLSD. It is an option on the M37 (comes with the sport package normally).rjoe wrote:My understanding is that the RWD variants of the M do not have any LSD capabilities. This means no conventional LSD and also no computer controlled braking for the tire with less traction.
Yeah but that requires a jack/jack stands (or a lift if you have one) and is not nearly as funbiggie wrote:Or jack up the rear put in neutral and spin a wheel.
The window sticker on my M56S doesn't mention anything about VLSD, and the traction control activates far too easily for there to be an LSD.biggie wrote:From recent talks with Infiniti, all M56 have rear VLSD. Not necessarily true about traction control. My G37S had an LSD and traction control kicked in immediately after sensing wheel slip. I would just do it the old school way to find out. Turn off VDC and let the wheels spin if you want to find out. I have AWD so I can't test it out for you RWD guys.rjoe wrote: The window sticker on my M56S doesn't mention anything about VLSD, and the traction control activates far too easily for there to be an LSD.
Its not on the window sticker, that's why I asked and was answered by the mechanics at the local dealership. Standard on all M56.rjoe wrote:The window sticker on my M56S doesn't mention anything about VLSD, and the traction control activates far too easily for there to be an LSD.
Read my posts above. I can confirm this car has a VLSD. Same one as the 370Z and G37SwissCheeseHead wrote:Easy way to find out. Do a short brake stand to see if you get one streak or two streaks.
