That is the OBX rear-lower strut brace. It is NOT the anti-sway bar..... but I have one and I would highly recommend it. They are built very tough... and are a perfect compliment to an upper strut brace. Although... you really missed the boat on this one... I got mine (the exact same bar) for $20 on ebay!!! (ha ha ha) They must have realized the demand for them and jumped up the price because it's now selling for $60!! OUCH... still well worth it. If you install this and upper bars front and back you will notice a SERIOUS difference. Then add the sway bars... and you'll have some very good handling... all you'll have to do then, is get springs.

I like GodDrives' diagram! to give you an idea of size.. the sway bar is like this big:

\______________/

and the OBX strut bar is about like this:

0____0 It connects the two inside lower ends of the strut frames together.

Nope.. you have a front upper strut tower brace. (over the engine). You do also have a front anti-sway bar stock.. it's under the car. The OBX will be a lower rear STB, and they also make a decent upper rear STB. There is no such thing as upper and lower anti-sway bars.. just front and back. Your car.. if it's an SE already has a rear anti-sway bar.

Break it down:

Front Upper STB(over engine from strut tower to strut tower)

Front Anti-sway bar(Under car from suspension to frame to suspension)

Rear Upper STB(Under speakers from strut tower to strut tower)

Rear Lower STB(Under car from inside of lower strut frame to inside of lower strut frame)

Rear Anti-sway bar(Under car from suspension to frame to suspension)

The primary purpose of this is to stiffen up the suspension subframe. I'm not sure how effective this piece is without looking at it and where it mounts, but maineimport recommends it. Like strut tower bars, it basically stiffens non-moving parts of the car which in turn gives you the ability to tune your suspension more predictibly. You don't have to try an guess what kind of twisting and beding your car will do through a corner which makes it much simpler to dial in the suspension.

Anti-Roll or Anti-sway bars are designed to give resistance to opposite movements in the suspension(side to side), thus reducing body roll. Chassis stiffening and non-moving suspension part siffening products do nothing to reduce body roll.

if this is what I think it is, then it's pretty unnecessary for a 240. The subframe is really stiff down low as it is...I haven't noticed any companies other than OBX offering a 'rear lower arm bar'. Unlike the STBs up top, the rear subframe has a lot of beef between where the suspension mounts.

The suspension sub-frame on the s14 is VERY stout. The only reason I bought it was because it was selling for $20 at the time. I can say the difference was noticable. However I did install the rear upper and lower at the same time. In my mind.. for $20 extra I couldn't go wrong... and I feel it makes for a more complete set up. The a$$ end of my car is STIFF... you really can tell it's there.

My 95sx SE tends to sway from side to side when I hit bumps, is this normal? What will fix this?
