My 04 rear gate takes two or three pushes of the button to open. Finally it does open. I replaced the rear hatch struts and it still does this. Anyone seen this? Maybe the motor?

Check the switch.

its not the switch. it does it fron the front switch and the rear switch. yes, i still have it. I put 18" full chrome rims on her. Classic tagged it and she mostly sits. not worth selling with all the money i have into her. I sunk 4k in the stereo system so its really fun to drive now. nos is still fun too.

My 04 did the same thing in 05. Almost exactly 1 year old. It was the motor assembly. It would not open or close on occasion. It would start to close or open then abort.

Replaced under warranty and has never acted up again. My wife and kids uses all 3 power doors exclusively daily. Never use the manual option.

Well, replaced the motor same problem. It looks like the latch is worn. Plastic is missing around the grab point.

Ours started having problems RIGHT after warranty. Nice, eh? I hear the assembly is expensive.

I replaced the struts, too -- unfortunately, I found out new struts only make the problem worse, because they are in better condition. The motor has weakened, so having crappier struts would help it operate better. But, then you could have the problem of the door not staying open at some point. LOL.
