Hi guys sorry for being a pain but i come from Australia and they have just started to import the G35's from japan also known as the skyline 350GT.

Everyone here doesn't have much knowledge of the car.

Basically i am getting this rattle noise from the rear left of the car. Every time i go over a hump i get this rattle noise coming from the back left corner. It is coming from the outside of the car nothing to do with cabin.

Cheers and thanks for your help.

sounds like something may be loose...have someone stand outside the car when you go over a bump

I have had the same problem on and off since I got my car almost a year ago. The sound is like metal scraping together, making a 'tinging' type sound. Its hard to describe but it only ever happens, and pretty rarely, when you go over a bump at a certain angle. My guess was that its something to do with the suspension, but everything seems fine. Just check that it isnt the rear set retract leaver thats in the boot of the car. It'll be on the left hand side, you pull it forward to retract the back seat. However, in my car, and probably alot of others, this seems to be broken, and makes a VERY simlar sound to the one described because its loose.

Its going in to get a major service this week anyway so I am gonna get them to check it out anyway, just to be sure.

Welcome to Nico, good to see another Aussie. The cars have been around in AU since 2005, but for some reason they just aint that popluar here (they don't have an RB engine so all the Skyline enthus just don't want to touch them). Their loss considering they are so much nicer both inside and out, and to drive, then any old R31-R34.

i totally agree with you. they look so much better than the R33 and R34. I think the reason why no one is going for them is because of the price. Some people want to much for them. I mean look at the trading post there are at 100 for sale in australia at the moment.

Mate i reckon it is something to do with the suspension assembly. I only serviced mine 3000kmh ago, stuff it im going to get it serviced again to have the excuse for them to check that out.

Cheers and nice to see that there are a few aussies about. Im for Sydney by the way.

My peace of advice, do not pay anymore then $35k for a decent KM 03-04 and no more then $38k for a 05-06.

I'm considering importing an 06/07 once compliance is finished (you can legally import any G35/350GT up to currect model, which includes brand new 07 models, but getting them plated is another thing due to emissions testing etc. I'm expecting compliance on 06/07 to be done early next year.

Yeah, could be suspension, but i'd recommend taking a gander at that lever too. Mine can easily spin around because its not longer attached to anything, and the noises are pretty similar/same location.

I'm in Brisbane, I've only ever seen 3 other cars on the road since I've had mine. Post some pics when you get a chance.

yea i bought mine for 38K with 20k on the clock. Its an 03 model and it looks absolute new, couldnt find a decent one without scratches. Mine even still had the plastic covers over the section where it says skyline.

Ill post some pictures up later on.

Ive notice probably about 6 since i bought mine 3 months ago.

Cheers

Hi Andy,

My mechanic found what the problem was.

Under the car where the suspension is there are little rodes which use ball and socket joints. These are connected to the sway bars underneath.

What happens is this ball and socket joint loosens up inside and causes this rattle noise.

Cheers
