Ok I went up d!ck around on the trails here and for some odd reason the damn hatch is rattling badly. I have tried many things like making sure that there was not anything in the way of the jam, and ruled out many other things like exhaust, suspension, and my spare is now on the roof. I think that maybe that the latch is broken or something. I can slam the s*** out of the thing and it has movement like a regular door that hasn't shut all the way. I need help it is driving me nuts. Has anyone ever had problems like this if so how can I fix it???

first of all, holy sh*t nice QX4 you are ridiculous. What tire size is that?

as far as the hatch, do you still have the little rubber stoppers on both corners? mine tend to fall out. But mine was still slightly rattling even with the rubber stoppers so i put 2 layers of a small (2" by 2") square of dynamat right where the rubber stopper touches, on each side... worked for me.

I would suggest the rubber stoppers too, if not that then check the hinges on the top to either side of the break light.

Also, I demand to know your tire size/config.

Not to thread Jack but my rear hatch also rattle. I will take a look at the rubber on the side.

Let me know the outcome 02infinity.

My '01 qx4 has a problem that its hard to get the rear hatch to close properly but once it does its solid.

I would check the rubber bumpstops and adjust the latch up or down to see if you can get a tighter fit. It could be as simple as the latch bolts are loose, I've seen that before.

good luck, and nice ride!

Well I wasn't going to tell but I have 32x11.5 ProComp Extreme MT's sitting on 17" Pro Comp rims. It is a nice set up but I don't like the tires. For the price of you would think they would be Extreme mudders but there is no real difference. They are the same until you air them down. They are almost too soft however, they are just about the toughest tires I have ever bought not one flat yet! The rims suck bad I can never keep the damn weights on rims for some stupid reason. Got tired of dealing with tire techs chasing weights for 2 hours. So now I am forced to lower the presure so its not so noticable.

Oh Yeah I do loose my little rubber stopers on my tailgate also but, they are still hangin in there. I have also readjusted the striker and still no luck I really think that the latch itself is busted or loose. I was slamin around pretty good today and the hatch came flyin open and my cooler full of cold ones flew out the back.
