Hello!
I have water seeping under the edge of the weatherstrip on the rear hatch opening on my 14 Versa Note. I have new OEM weatherstrip on the way.

However, in examining the current weatherstrip I have, it appears that it is simply pressed/snapped in place. There does not appear to be any adhesive. Admittedly, I have not tried to remove the entire current weatherstripping until my new one comes in, so I may be wrong.

My question is, is this correct? Do I really not need to use adhesive in installing my new weatherstrip?

No vehicle I've owned in at least the last 25 or so years and made since the late '80's used a sealant on the weatherstripping with the exception of maybe just a small amount in corners to keep them from slipping and tearing the weatherstripping. I really don't remember whether cars of the '60's and '70's used a sealant or not.
