rear hatch tie down

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Has anyone found a good spot to use tie down the rear hatch if you need to carry something long but aren't able to close the hatch completely?
Wanted to move something this weekend but really couldn't find a good latch point. Other vehicles usually have some door handle, latch or hook that can be used but the EX hatch seems completely free of anything usable. What have others used?

Hook a rope around the base of the rear wiper and thread it through the round hatch latch hook in the floor of the cargo bay (the plastic around it presses downward for access).

Or, if your cargo covers that hook, hook a short bungee cord into one or both of the small holes in the plastic bottom of the hatch door itself and hook the other end on the bottom lip of the bumper.

There are also recessed round plastic hooks on the lower back wall inside the cargo bay near the hatch that you could use to rig something up, either thin rope through the hooks running outside the hatch or a long bungee; rope would probably be better.

I'd not use wiper - can brake it.
I learned from guy loading cars at electronic shops when you buy something. Hard to explain though...
Basically you just use the lock - one end to the hatch and another to the U-bracket on the base. You'd have to turn/rotate the lock thingy on the hatch.
When you done, use the trunk unlock button to be able to close your hatch again. Works the same on all cars.
