Rear hatch switch

I'm assuming that the switch for the interior lights and warning lamp is located inside the rear hatch lock assembly. One of my pathfinders is turning on the lights when the hatch is closed --- wondering if the lock switch has any adjustment? I don't see anything?

Both of my 02's need a heavy hand when closing to get them to lock properly on the first try -- the one has been acting up recently even when it is closed. I don't think its the latch -- I'm wondering how the switch works.
