GOOD DEAL! Im going to sticky this in the DIY/REPAIR/FAQ Section.Bill Lewis wrote:As I posted eariler my rear hatch struts went on my 2008 SL. The dealer wanter $166 EACH !!!, not counting labor. (Very simple job to snap them of/with just a screwdriver) Contacted Nissan customer service and told them this is a safety issue they should be careful off. They just pushed me off to another dealer who said he would give me a 10% discount if I came in before 7AM Whoopee!! Went online and found specfic ones for the Murano for about $25. Went to one auto parts store and they said can't find anything. Went to Auto Zone and a young worker there went the extra mile for me. Took my old one off and matched it with ones he had in the store and told me if I wasn't happy he would just put the old ones back. The new ones are stiffer than the original but at $21.99 vrs $166, I'm a happy camper. Kid put new wiper blades on for me too so I tipped him $20. Well worth the service
The replacements are Mighty Lift # C95066 and again it was AutoZone. Hope this helps someone else avoid a big headache.

you do know that the Rogue has a 10yr/120,000 mile transmission warranty right?Bill Lewis wrote:I go by that track sometimes on my way to play golf at Cohansik GC. You race bikes!!! Too crazy for me. I regrettably just sold my Yamaha Royal Star and miss it a lot but time to move on. Still have the hitch on my rogue and my landscape trailer. Used it to move ourselves out of Rahway to our two homes in Toms River and Cape May. Rogue preformed great and I'm at the 52K mark. Now do I put the money in the Rogue for a trans. , rear, and differental fluid change. Plus I'm sure I will need brakes soon or is it a good time to trade it. Starting to get a desire for a little more cargo room for my music equipment so I've been checking out the Ford Edge Decisions Decisions![]()

Here's me back before the great Nashville flood took my track bike and my budget for the track:

Jeffrey B! wrote:Yup! The Mighty Lift # C95066 at AutoZone was a quick fix. MUST MENTION, though: I am 6'1" and I hit my head with the open hatch when I lean into the Rogue. The hatch is now 1" lower with the Might Lifts. I'm purchasing a hockey helmet tomorrow!
mind if i ask what you paid for the said services?Bill Lewis wrote: I just did a full service of oil, trans fluid, rear fluid, diff. fluid, tire rotation and antifreeze at the dealer and when I broke down the bill it wasn't too bad.

One more thing.. Wife almost uppercut herself. New struts are significantly stronger.. NO more one handed closing of the trunk! Thanks guys! I had this issue too.. Sure maybe an inch shorter.. but the lid stays up.. and damn well at that..
I almost think it's too strong!! Force of the lid going up could knock someone out!!
Jerks at nissan for charging 166 a piece, thats highway robbery! 21.99, Nuaaahhhiiice!
I have taken that route last year (warranty replacement) because you can hear the strut knock/bang when it is extended and the struts were not upgraded. In fact they open even less than before. I only use the Rogue in cool / cold weather so I don't really know the summer-time performance. I just know with both sets I have had they really perform poorly in the winter.kerrton wrote:Mine have "groaned" in cold weather for 5 years now, as soon as it warms up the noise disappears and the performance is the same as when they were new. If you're still within your 3-year warranty period it doesn't hurt to mention it to them, if they do replace them you never know, there may be a new part that is upgraded and superior to what was offered on earlier models.
Couldn't find my reciept to answer your question. Finally got a new copy from the dealer. Here's the breakdownImStricken wrote:mind if i ask what you paid for the said services?Bill Lewis wrote: I just did a full service of oil, trans fluid, rear fluid, diff. fluid, tire rotation and antifreeze at the dealer and when I broke down the bill it wasn't too bad.

think of it this way. the size of the hole, that the gas/fluid has to go through doesnt change. but the density of the fluid or gas DOES change.Qashqai wrote:Talking about the struts, for the last 2-3 weeks, there is a loud groaning noise coming from the struts, when I close the hatch. It is related to the cold temperatures I guess. Is it normal? Should I ask dealer to change/examine on my next scheduled service? Is it an early symptom of a failure?

Very well. The Rogue is my wife's daily-driver and the hatch gets used regularly. She has told me a few times now how much better it is with the replacements in, so I'm calling it a win!Gman65 wrote:@ CraigL How are they working so far?
