Everytime I put the car in reverse and turn the wheels it makes this nasty grinding noise. Someone told me it could be my rear axles. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have this problem aswell... comes and goes for me (very rarely is not present though). I'm thinking that it is due to some part of the brake system not sitting right b/c when ever I apply the brakes the noise stops. if you can give any more info about your noise and post a thread in the Nissan Online Mechanic section you'd probably get more and faster feedback aswell

I'd say post a thread in the online mechanic section if you haven't already... the guys there have helped me out a great deal in the past. I hope that you find the problem and solution, and when you do let us know! (never hurts to know how ppl have fixed misc. issues/noises/problems w/ their 240's)

i ahve the same problem....when i step on the brakes the noise stops....did u have your rear rotors replaced or maybe the previous owner did?

i had mine replaced and this is when it started happening...i brought to nissan to get them to look at it and said everythuing was fine....they said its just from the aftermarket rotors....

my friends 240 does it aswell, he rear breaks got rust on them or something, but when he goes in to reverse the breks make a grind nosie here and there, it goes away and comes back, if i was you i would to the rear tires off and look to see if there is any bad rub marks on the inside or out side of the rotos

um, maybe fugged up bushings & balljoints?

What is aftermarket on your suspension? That may be the cause of it.

When did it start? Right after some mod on your car? or always? or just out of the blue? etc.

mine was doing the same thing when I had bad brakes, when I had the brake pads replaced, it stopped. It has something to do with worn brake pads grinding on the rotor, they tend to lock up on it some. I was wondering FOREVER what the sound was, but that definately fixed it

I replaced everything to do with brakes and still had the problem. ON BOTH OF MY 240s!

The 240 I might be getting the owner says it has the same problem. I still cant figure it out.
