My Rogue has 6900 kms on it and it was only six months and two days old and a car rear ended today
We were stopped at the red light in a very busy intersection and a Hyundai Sonata rear ended. On her side, hood, headlamps, bumper, front grill and radiator were basically "gone" (the worst part is the passenger of the other car has a broken finger!). On my side the rear bumper has tiny "scratches", the thin metal piece that holds the bottom of the bumper and attach to the body bended, couple of bumper clips were broken (this was all I can see from the outside). Maybe the biggest damage happened to the head rests. As expected, due to the nature of the collision, the head restraints activated and they saved us from major injuries (although we took my wife to hospital because of pains on her right neck). I have two questions:
1. I looked at the owners manual (page 2-7) about the head rests. It explains how it works but it doesn't say anything about what to do after a collision. Right now the headrests are moving towards front as if they are not attached to the seat! They don't go back, but they move front. I think the suspension/spring mechanism is deployed and it needs to be changed. I wonder if any of the forum members had an experience like this?
2. Maybe a stupid question but do you think CVT transmission gets damaged? the car slides on its four wheels for about a meter. Do you think it adds stress to the differential? My foot was on the brake (naturally) and the wheels didn't "turn", they basically "slide". I
I hope none of you will experience such a collision. It was loud! My wife is fine right now. I will take the car to the body shop of the dealer tomorrow. I will let you know what is the damage and how much will it cost.
By the way, everyone (including myself, fire fighters, police, paramedics, relatives of the other car's driver, other witnesses) impressed about how strong and "bullet proof" my Rogue was. Compared to what had happened to the other car, people didn't believe Rogue has scratches... I will put the pictures of my Rogue.
Guys, I love my Rogue. My wife said "thank God we bought this car" for many times...I am probably sure this car saved us from really serious injuries today....
