Just gathering some info on what people think. I will be swapping a vh45de into my 240 one day. The car will be pretty much just be setup for drifting and whatever else spirited driving i want but putting it sideways is where i want to put the focus on. Now what would people suggest. Of course on the start it will be a stock motor and z32 trans. Planning on running some 18's out back. So people like Gsracer (sp) and others who run this similar setup. How do you like your ratio and would be like it to be higher or lower.

So umm

i have the j30 (3.9) ratio and have no problem getting sideways and keeping it there even with 315s, the vh has so much tq, 4.3 or 4.6 is just a waste.

Awesome. I guess then i will just stick with using the 4.08 out of the 240 and not have to worry about that.

Why taller? Wouldnt that take away from the umm "snap". Dont really wont to have to clutch kick the car. Just want power on tap. Not questioning your knowledge. Just picking your brain.

Looks like i will have plenty ratios at hand if i need to go up or down. I believe there is also a couple other odd balls but dont feel like searching.

Driving a VH powered car is so different than any other engine, the torque (about 300 ft-lb) is available instantly at any RPM above 2000. I am not a drift expert by any means, but my Z (much heavier than your 240) has no problem stepping out with either the stock 4.08's or with the 3.69's from a 98Q, and I have never "clutch-kicked" the car.

Awesome. Yeah i am not to knowledge in the nissan world. Switch over from the Honda game. You know there is no tq there haha. This will be my 2nd 240 and first one i am building the other was my first car in HS which obviously, didnt know much about cars period back then. Just trying learn. So my ignorance will be shown here quite some bit in the future.

After reading some. My goals with the motor will be along the lines of Dixons (i think him, 5.0 300 right) one day. Just a NA beast.

The VH swapped into any lightweight Nissan chassis has a great power to weight ratio. These guys are right, if you hammer the throttle while turning, it goes sideways, whether you want it to or not. The 4.08 is about as low as you want to go, seriously.

Lies the 4.9 (on Mazworxs site) or bust.
