I keep getting told by my step dad who has been building hot rod's for the past 20 years. you know 454 big block and all that old school big block crap. well he also does transmissions and keeps telling me that the 240sx trannie and rear end can't handle lot's of HP like above 300hp. frankly i don't belive him since i never see anyone asking about this problem. he's one of them ignorent american car ppl. everyday i hear why don't u drop in a sb350 instead of a sr20det son.well i'm asking does anyone know of trannie or rear end/axle problems on 180sx,200sx, or 240sx?

Transmission depends on mileage. You can usually pick up a five speed for about 200 or so at your local junk yard. The rear end won't last long as soon as you start making power, if its an open diff. I blew my stock open diff autocrossing, and upgraded to a J30 vlsd for the time being. Nick

so the stock dif won't hold much HP i figured that. but what about aftermarked like kaaz lsd? are they rated for handling a certain amount of HP. or is there a better brand or what not. i don't know jack about rear ends other then the configurations lsd open and cloed(both wheel spin. good for drag bad for turning).oh and i know about viscous and the heilcal sun gear lsd's.

I dont know much about what their putting in the 240 to handle the horse power but if you post your request in 240 technical you'll probably get a quicker answer.

when your done getting your set up done and you get it tuned. Ask your dad to fire up his 454 big block and lets head down to the track!!Then you can show him the light. I my self am building an older chev but am smart enough to realize that tank doesnt stand a chance against the rice rockets. I am building it for personal prefference rather then band wagon building. Then you can show him the light.
