Hello,
I am about to install a 2jz into an S14. I am buying a older S14, it has high mileage and I bought it for a good deal.

I am trying to make this a successful project on a budget, meaning, I don't want to buy expensive parts for absolutely every part that will go on the 240.

I want to ask this: What rear end should I go with? I want a tall final drive ratio. I am using the R154 5spd transmission. I would like to allow 5th gear to reach about 180mph. I heard a rumor that the pathfinder diff may be able to fit. Are there any other diffs that can support my power and MPH goals? Perhaps a J30 diff? Or other aftermarket?

And what about axles?

Thanks,
Patrick

Pathfinder rear gear is 3.13 that should work pretty well. personally if your building a 2JZ car to go to the TXmile or the Miami mile or any sort of mile racing, just get the V160/V161 6speed. Best of luck with the build.

2JZ + S-Chassis doens't equal a budget build but best of luck with it. plus the txmile is pretty up on rules so make sure you read the rule book when building your car.

90-96 q45 diff, it has a 3.54 ratio and it uses thicker axle stubs and axles.

The best part is that it bolts right in with all the right pieces.

I wouldn't be surprised if the R200 could hold close to that kind of power. It's a pretty beefy diff, especially for our cars.

But yeah, I'm sure the best budget option would be a Q45 swap.

Talk to OutToWinPahc. He swapped diffs for his V8 build if I remember correctly. I'm sure he's real knowledgeable on the subject.
