Please excuse my grammar and etc. I'm from the country that does not speak english..

First of all, I have 08 versa and have 30k miles. The brake makes the noise (high pitch sound) and went to shop for check up.

Guy said I have lots of pads left but rear brake (drum) is full of dust.

And I decided to clean the dust myself at home.

Soon as I took out the rear tire the drum was pure black. So I bought the brake cleaning spray and sprayed and wiped it and the color turned into pure silver and I cleaned everything.

Since then, I did not hear the noise but was that a proper way to clean the dust on brakes?

Is that the proper way? Yes. You took it apart correctly and cleaned it out well. I'm usually just lazy and spray it with a hose and water. You went above and beyond to do it right. Kudos for that.

And your English is great. No need to worry. Post away! What is your first language?

You speak just fine in English. :D

Anways, I have about 34k on my SL and I haven't had any noise like that or anything. Good to know in the future so I won't have to waste a trip to the dealership!

P.S. - Welcome to the forums! We'd love for you to stick around a chat with us!

good job of taking it off and cleaning it out. just make sure u didnt inhale any of that brake dust man because that has asbestos in it and thats not good for you at all.

and yes that is the proper way of cleaning it, brake cleaner is used to pretty much clean anything.
