Dear all. If you are interested in doing your own rear DRUM brakes, please be sure to replace the hardware kit as well. Apparently, only CARLSON makes the rear DUM brake hardware kit (CARLSON PART# 17406). You can get it from http://www.autopartsgiant.com

The J's got disks all the way around, that's the way they came from the factory. Why would you want drums?

I believe I read the parking brake is a drum brake. My parking brake doesn't hold very well anymore and the pads probably need to be replaced but I can't find any info on it or a place that sells them. I haven't tried the obvious place, an Infiniti dealer as there parts prices are so high and they aren't very helpful about answering do it yourselfers questions. If anyone has worked on their parking brakes can you give us an idea of what is involved in fixing them?

The J's are four wheel "Disk" as Driver stated.

Go take your two rear wheels off and see.

Found this thread that says there is a star adjuster for the drum parking brake. BTW, the link for the drum brake parts shows one part, a cable guide. Has anyone ever adjusted the parking brake. There is also supposed to be a cable tension adjustment but it doesn't seem to do anything.http://www.automotiveforums.co....html

I apologize Victor. I stand corrected.

Page 24 in the Brake section of the Service manual shows the procedure. The shoe's are inside the rotor housing.Interesting design I must say.

Hi:This is a common confusion when someone mentions about rear DRUM brake on our Js. YES. J has the rear DRUM brake INSIDE the ROTOR. You can get the shoes from Infiniti of Scottsdale for about $80. I don't think dealers have the heardware kit (Last time I checked was 6 months ago).
