Rear door switch relay

In the J30 Multi-Control Unit (Keyless entry), Anti-Theft, Time Control System and of course the Interior Lamp section and no doubt more they make mention of a rear door switch relay.

Well when I studied the Keyless entry wiring diagrams I would lay in bed every night in fear that that little relay would undo what I had been planing for a while (OEM J30 keyless entry on a 1992-1993 Q45).

What does that relay do and is it relay needed?

It seems like a overly complex setup to me but hopefully someone that knows more can tell me all about it.

Just kidding but someone out there has to know th reason behind this relay.

Does it have anything to do with the fact that two quick turns of the front door locks with the key or two quick presses of the door opening button on the remote, unlocks all four doors, where only one key turn in the lock or button press, unlocks only the driver's door?
