Rear Door stuck shut 97'

The right rear of my 97 pathfinder is stuck shut. I was able to fit a small impravized device into the crack between the door and the jam and i worked the child safty lock back and forth and that did not help. the outside handle feels like it is not conected to anything. The inside handle feels like it is working but the door will not open.thanks in advancejoe
