rear door getting really hard to close ?

I have an 01 path le the rear door is getting really hard to close to i need to replace the the stabilizers ?

i meant the door its self when you pull it down to close it is really hard like you need to but some muscle into it to close it

Do the pumps get stiff when they fail I thought it was the other way around ?

I'm pretty certain the struts are supposed to encounter more difficulty extending as they start to fail; i.e. softer, not stiffer.

Any suggestions on why the door is so stiff?

try spraying wd-40 on the strut rails or whatever it is called
