Ok, I know the Pathfinder and QX4 are pretty much the same vehicle. Has anyone swapped the Rear Disc Brakes from a QX4 onto a Pathfinder? I have an 03 Pathfinder LE. I was wanting to get some info on doing this.

QX4s never came with rear discs. No r50s did.

Yeah, my QX pretty much differs in no way to a Pathfinder. (cept the being heavier and stuff )

I think they weigh about the same.

I'm pretty sure the QX4 weighs more due to the extra sound dampening material and extra side body panels/molding and fender flares. I've driven both and the Q definitely feels slower due to the extra weight.

It's my understanding that the QX weighs ~250 lbs more than a Pathfinder, due in large part to all the extra sound dampening material (as was said) and who knows what else. .

The spec says PF weight is 3675 and QX4 is 4275. That's a 600 Ib difference. Does it sound right? I am not sure if both are 4WD weight?

Yeah, the QX's are beastly bishez.

I want to shave some weight off mine, anyone ever done that?

I like my sound dampening, but my mpg is killing me.

Trade for a Pathfinder? :DI'm sure the sound deadening doesn't add that much, so I wonder where the rest comes from. . The other piece that differs is the All-mode... wonder how much an all mode R50 Pathy LE (vq) vs. an all-mode QX4 (VQ) weigh in at...

I'm not bothered by it. . it kinda feels nice to drive something heavy after driving 240s for so many years.

I did only one thing: took the full-size spare tire out. I didn't see much MPG change so I put it back in.

Actually I want my QX4 to be quieter. If adding some heavy sound deadening material makes it quieter, I will be happier...

^ Most of the outside noises come from the back near the wheel wells and quarter windows . The sound deadening is quite thin there so adding a few extra padding over the wheel well lump might be good!

I wonder if it's easy to take off the interior plastic pieces covering the wheel wells...

I love the stability of my QX. I think if I could shave 200 - 400 lbs off the total curb weight I could get another 1-3 mpg and not feel any difference in driving (except maybe oh-so-slightly faster acceleration)

Let's send it to Lotus in europe. They offer "Lotusness" for anyone that's willing to go to their shop and pay for it.

If you want better gas milage do a tune up. Taking off weight wont do much. Mainly because its an SUV and its not very aerodynamic. There is no way the Pathfinder weighs less then 4000.
