They are pretty difficult man. That's the hardest thing I've done to my car besides the motor. It took me probably 4 hours...maybe 5 or 6 I can't remember it felt like forever though lol. That was with a lift and air tools and a transmission jack to hold the diff. So it was as easy as possible and it still took that long. I used the ES bushings, they are great man. 4 or 5 thousand miles later and I still love the clunk-less shifting :)

If you have the time, tools and will-power to do it then I highly recommend it. It really changed the feel of the car a lot, much tighter and no more clunk in the back. Difference is like night and day. The clunk was so irritating, this is probably the most satisfying repair/mod I've done to the car!

Look what I found lol: post5902154.html

This is hands down the best write up for the job:

Clunks during a turn doesn't really sound like diff bushings.

My bad diff bushings would clunk really bad every time I would lightly press the throttle on and off. Also every time I shifted. Basically loading then unloading the drivetrain would make it clunk.

You have no play in the wheels? Did you ever figure out your problem from another thread that could be a bearing?

Lack of power and clunks are two separate problems probably.

Get underneath and look at all the bushings...control arms, sway bars, ball joints, subframe, and see if any look bad.

it literally sounds like metal grinding on metal like a bearing poped but when i jack the car up and try and move the wheel i have no play what so ever in the wheel. i do however have play in the axle coming out of the diff on the drivers side. i only have lack of power when im completely stopped and i start my turn and about halfway thro the turn i gas is and it just laggs big time. this has never happened before

clunk might be a balljoint in one of the control arms in the rear or tie rod end up front. Or so was the case for myself.

i jacked it up and shook the wheel, found out the clunk is coming from the lower control arm bushing the one on the lower portion of the control arm closest to the lsd. but i still would like to know what the ef the lose of power around a turn is from, only from a start to the middle of the turn while trying to gas it
