already checked the faq and ran a search.

the rear window defogger is not working. it does not defog and the button light does not go on when pressed. please suggest a list of possible solutions.

i can dig up the fsm if the procedure is going to be complicated.

thanks,

well first off check the fuse.

if thats not it and the light on the switch does not work id start your search there. get a DVOM and check the wiring and see if theres power at the switch, if there is check the wiring back to the defroster after each harness along the way to see where the problem lies. if theres not power at the switch its probably bad.

Car: 240's - duh!

I had the same problem with my car - all fuses good but still no rear defog. After checking with a voltmeter, I found that the defogger was not getting power. Turns out the wires to the defogger had broken right where they leave the hatch and enter the body - they kink right there and mine had finally broken. Its a relatively easy fix, but you do have to pull off the interior panels in the rear seat area to get at the wires, then its just a matter of splicing in new wires. If this doesn't turn out to be your problem, it may be the wires in the glass - the FSM has a procedure for checking these. Hope that helps...
