anyone done anything slick to the rear deck 6.5" subwoofer fitment ?

t's confirmed that the rear deck speakers are 6.5" in size and they are self powered with tiny individual amps.

courtesy of 97q45t, we know that they look like this below: Has anyone attempted to throw in some 8" subs in infinite baffle set up? or what about a pair of 6.5" subwoofers in it's individual tiny sealed cylinder boxes ?

if not has anyone attempted to remove the speakers from it's amplifier casing ? the sound sytem in the y33 is very nice and I'd like to just reinforce the rear deck speaker subs.

I don't know any answers for you, but I'll be interested to see what you come up with!

I'm not going to be any real help here, but my cousin bought a '92 (I think) LS400 earlier this year, and her boyfriend was telling me how a lot of guys on various Lexus / LS400 forums were building wood adapter rings and installing aftermarket subs in the stock shelf location, anything from 8" to 12".

He thought this would be useful for me when I got my G50 because he was convinced there was a subwoofer as part of the stock sound system, and couldn't figure out why I was even worrying about where to put my sub.

I don't know what kind of room you have to play with under the rear shelf in a Y33, but the adapter ring is an idea, I just don't know if in the Y33 its a good or bad one.

the wood adapter rings would be sweet, too bad the y33 uses a pair of 6.5" rather than a single 8" or single 10".

we may be able to use a pair of these 6.5" subwoofers (with adapter mdf rings) and 200 watt rms amp.

Ok help me out, maybe its just a typo on the thread title.

You want to change your rear "speakers" into subs? You should have 6.5" cone speakers. The LS400 has a dedicated 8" woofer in the middle of the rear deck that is of a free air design. I don't remember the Q having that setup. The LS400 has a speaker in each door, with front mounted door tweeters and then the rear sub. It is true about the adapter ring but that would be necessary if you are going for a bigger size which most do, going with a 10" or 12".

does anyone have the wiring diagram to the connection of this speaker-amp unit below ? It looks like the connection socket is all bundled up including the power-ground, low level inputs and positive-negative speaker leads.

anyone have the wiring diagram to the interconnects ?

I just need to know which wires are the low level inputs.

I plan on using a seperate small 150 rms amp to power up two elemental designs 6.5" eu700 subs.

As mentioned above, you would need to use a free air design sub. Using a sub designed for an enclosure would cause degraded sound quality.

well according to edesigns, the eu700 is ok for free air.

However I don't see how a sub can be both suitable for sealed and free air. I think they are saying whatever they want to sell their product.
