I was toying around and was wondering if anyone had ever thought to replace the factory bose sub with an 8in aftermarket or any other mod.

If so, what all did it take to house it and produce a good sound?

I'll recommend this little 8incher.

MCM 8" High Excursion Woofer

Cut the back off of the bose enclosure.

I'd feed this sub about 50w RMS. This should be enough to drive it to Xmax. Just a note, this 8" will move about 4 times as much air as the Bose sub

Thanks Man, I'll see what I can do with that. I have an aftermarket head and with it being set up for 4 speakers, it puts bass on those back doors where they supposed to go so I was trying to utilize every place in that car to do some cool audio enhancements to.

I'd go with an MTX solution. Their amps can accept the factory sub output from the stock head deck. Mate that to a decent sub/enclosure and you'll be set! Here is a pimp of mine:

Thanks for catching that. I couldn't figure exactly who made it. The naming scheme seemed similar enough to "MJ-18"

Changed. If you can think of anything that'd fit in my sig let me know

Can't really think of anything else. You could add in a headunit, but everyone has their own favorites and will pick what they like regardless what anyone recommends.

Sound deadening?
