Hey wat's up everyone.. im new to the forums here. ive only had my g for 2 months now. For the past 3 days i've been starting to get a weird sound. It's like a Creaking sound. I get it when i either shift into like 2nd or 3rd gear, when im going relatively slow. Or when im taking a turn and its relaly bumpy. Its a really annoying sound. I think the creaking is coming from the suspension. but i have no idea. It's kinda like eeeeeEEEhhhh eeeEEEEhhh. and then it stops. I think i narrowd the sound down to the right rear side. Maybe it could be the coils or something or it's probably due to the cold weather now. but i really dont know.. has anyone else had this problem or know what it could possibly be. thanks. i hope this isnt serious because i just bought this car and i wanna have to waste more money on a new suspension system or something. thanks for your help.

Welcome to NICO!

Interesting...we don't get a lot of suspension complaints... I would take it to a shop and have them diagnose what the problem could be.

Did you hit a pothole or a large bump recently?

I think weird suspension noises are a common thing on G35's. I hope I'm wrong

Yeah i took it to the shop today. they did a couple of things to it.. serviced it. changed oils and filters, changed bulbs, changed drive belts, flushed power steering and something else with that i forget... wheel rotation and alignment....and they told me the creaking noise was coming from the rear axle on the right side. they said they get a couple of complaints with that. so they took it off and greased it up.. i get it back 2morrow.. hopefully everything is great now... i miss my G sooo much. oo and no i dont think i hit any bump.. or at least i dont really remember..

I was at the dealer with mine... and they were working on a coupe that had the same problem!

It just needs to be lubed LOL

Weeeee .... my 03 makes a weird noise as well...however it's more a sound that makes me think the right rear spring is unseated. I told my dealership about it but somethin tells me they didn't do anything cause it's still there.

My noise sounds more like a frame pop or a spring shifting when I make right hand turns into an inclined driveway, ironically though also from the right rear corner. It's gotten more subtle over the past couple months but it's still there. Unfortunitly I do remember going over something before it started, one of the sloped medians they sometimes put in driveways to seperate exit and entrance, it was night and they painted it dark red and started it at the top of the driveway with no sign. My lights didn't hit it, due to the incline and the slope of the median the light path went straight over it .

I've used my friends lift and inspected everything under the car personally looking for dents or something bent. Nothing except a few scrapes, but I neglected to check the spring seatment. I think I'll go use his lift again this weekend before I forget again.

I had the same issue on my '05 with a creak/pop noise coming from the rear passenger side.

I took it to the dealer and after two days they thought it was the rear strut so they replaced that and still creaked. It sounds like a creak pop or flexing of the frame on right turns.

So they continued looking and after having the car for a week and basically removing the entire back interior of the car discovered a spot weld had come loose and that as a result the passenger rear shelf deck was rubbing creating the creak noise that I desperately tried to get rid of for about 4 months.

After correcting the problem and repainting the interior skeleton, they reassembled the interior and test drove it and sure enough fixed the problem. I have not had the creak noise return. They continually told me they could not find anything wrong with it and after constantly riding their a$$ they finally looked in depth and what do you know, I was right.

Keep this in mind if they tell you that they can't find anything wrong with it as they will most likely do just that.

I doubt that you will find it to be a spring or suspension problem. But they might diagnose it as that. If you get it back fixed and that was what was wrong let us know.

Good luck.

i got it back today.. it was actually the axle.. it need to be lubed.. so they took out the axle and greased it.. and retorqued it... the creaking did go away. so im guessing that was actually the problem.. but u are right it coundt have been a suspension problem because on bumps and sewrcaps all that stuff my car would never creak.. it only creaked when i accelerated quickly in 1-2-3 gears and my car pulled back or when i was takin sharp turns.. but it would never creak on crazy bumps and stuff like that and the suspension didnt feel weird or anything.. but anyways the dealership said that that problem is sorta common..

I got 10 bucks says that's what's wrong with mine as well. It doesn't do it all the time but it sure is annoying when it does. It also doesn't creak over anything that's a stright bump, just right hand driveways that have a decent slope that would normaly flex a frame. Never creaks or anything weird under acceleration either. Thanks for that info .

Hi,I had the exact same issue on my 03 Sedan. I would enter my off camber driveway and it would make a hollow ping or pop from the rear suspension. It would also do that when the car would shift into 3rd gear when the initial acceleration would kind of back off. It would do it when the rear end was not quite under load. PING! like the rear spring was floating around.Anyway, I got the dealer to take a look at it and wouldn't you know it, what they found (and were cool enogh to show me) was a large rock had kicked up and gotten trapped in the suspension in such a way that it knocked up against the fuel tank shield (just forward of the rear suspension on the right side of the car) under certain circumstances. They removed the rock and I have not heard the noise since. I would never have believed it unless I saw it on the lift myself at the dealer.Hope this helps.Mark

The G is such a delicate car. It cries like a baby whenever it has issues. My 19inch tires are actually rasing enouhg sand to sand down the paint. I have never seen a car that loves to pick up small sand particles and hoist it on itself.

Thanks for that extra info Mark, might have to check into that too. Got my 60K service comming up so I'll just wait for that and have them check it out .
