This evening, a dude that pulled up beside me told me that my passener tail light was out. The brake light part works fine, it's just the rest of the light that's supposed to stay illuminated when the headlights are on that isn't working. I'm not sure if it's a bulb or a fuse or what exactly. I just thought it was strange that a bulb would go out after only five months. I don't even drive at night all that much, so I don't turn on my lights all that often. Hopefully it's not big deal or a headache. Has anyone else had anything similar happen with their Versa?

Thats normal, happened to me a month ago. the bulbs are dual filament bulb's so either the brake light or the running light can go out. Go to the dealer they will give you a free bulb.

I had this problem when I got my Tiida, in 2 months the bulb was fuse, I took it to the Dealer they said it's because I wash my car everyday so may be the water had done something to it. Well they will give you free of charge. Good luck.

My dealer is sort of out of the way, so is there any reason I couldn't pick up the same bulb at a local auto parts store? Also, is there anything I need to know about replacing the bulb or should I just go by whatever the manual says about it?

I found that bulb replacement is pretty straight forward. Spending the gas to drive to a dealership for a free bulb is kind of unjustifiable. I mean its like 4.50 for a pair of these bulbs at the auto parts place down the street. Just pop off the plastic covers in the trunk area and you are good to go.
