I was putting in new rear brake pads today and I noticed that the two pins where the caliper is bolted onto can't be pushed in and out unlike on the other side. I checked under the retainer boot and there were some rusting found so I tried pliers, PB, and some tapping w/ a hammer but neither would budge. Any ideas on how to fix this?

use a wrench to pull them out, that happened to mine, it is important that those move freely, when you get them out, use a stiff bristled brush and some brake cleaner to clean all of the crap out ( you will see what i mean), then get some synthetic caliper grease from napa, and put it all over the inside of the hole

When mine on my front left seized, NOTHING would get them out. I just went to the junkyard, found an S14 4 lug and snagged one off of it. The casting is the same exact as the S13s. Pulled it apart and cleaned it up. Total cost: 30 minutes and $5.

very important. my buddy's coupe would lock up after about 15-20 minutes of driving because the pins weren't lubed. My brakes also had a harder time braking because in the front my right caliper would grab harder than my left because my left side had a seized pin. btw pulled that out with a screwdriver and a hammer.

Thanks for the suggestions guys :D I'll try it again when my work schedule frees up.

These pins are important because they somewhat affect pressure applied to each brake pad and could cause your brakes to be engaged all the time if they are sticking out to much and are seized. That's what happened to mine and it broke my rotor in two :doh

ya, stock calipers are one piston. when that piston pushes against the brake pad, the force of the piston pushing moves the entire caliper back, which pulls the other pad in. if the slide mins stick, then the pads will not back up off the rotor, and one pad will wear down all the way while the others are still fine.
