Still thinking about getting the rear bumper protector but I am wondering what the downside to these are.
Do they lock in moisture? A few years from now when it falls off will it take the paint with it?
Never had one of these and I don't want to regret it so someone school me.

Mine has been on there for 3 years now. Never had a problem. The protector is held with 3M tape specifically designed for automotive trim. It isn't continuous either so water can weep out from under the protector.

When it comes time for removal, usually a bit of heat and some careful prying will work. Do a search on de-badging vehicle emblems, the techniques are the same.

Nice, is yours oem? When you scratch it does it make that big discolored line? Or does it stay the same color?
When I go in for my oil change/disable auto lock Im going to get them to put one of these on. Thanx for your help.. Again lol

I installed my own OEM protector 3 years ago and it's solid, that 3M tape is designed to last a lifetime. Install was pretty easy but a little nerve racking because you only get one shot to get it aligned properly, but I wouldn't hesitate to install another on my own.

My dog scratches it when she gets in and out and the scratches are not obvious, definately not a different contrasting color and the scratches are not deep, if you rub them a little bit they basically disappear. I ArmorAll it once in a while and it looks like new and a consistent dark black.

My rear bumper protector came with the Rogue. It's black plastic and reminds me of a "truck bed liner" material so it doesn't scratch as easily as paint. My Murano had a chrome one and it became scratched up over time so I prefer the black plastic, although it's not as flashy.

It does trap water after a carwash or rain storm, however I'm sure the moisture evaporates. I doubt it's ever going to fall off.

Even if it does trap some water the bumper is all plastic so it shouldn't be an issue.

I'd recommend you buy the protector online instead of going through the dealership. I got one on ebay for $33 plus shipping. The dealership I bought my Rogue at wanted $100. The list price on Nissan's site is $41. I asked the guy why the high price and he said that is the set price without mark-up. I guess that's what it's going to be like trying to deal with a dealership.
