hey everyone, the other night i was on my way to albany with my friends to a toga party when I was reversing out of my friends long driveway and backed up into her mailbox that is surrounded by rocks. The rocks were probably the size of giant pumpkins and now i have huge scrapes along the left rear side and the bumper is popping out near the tailight. it looks like it should go back on with a screw because the plastic broke off but i was just wondering if anyone knows how much this would cost to fix? the plastic piece, and then the price for having the pop the bumper back in.and also would 350$ be a great price for a new bumper/painted/installed cause my friend said that he would do that for me.thanks for all the infoi would post pictures up but my parents took away my camera as part of punishment

Ok, this happened to me.. the bolt is still there, but the o-ring thing thats part of the bumper snapped off.

If you pull back the fenderliner you will see where that bolt goes in, but without that plastic O that snapped off, it wont hold it... so take a washer, put it around the bolt, then put it in, and it will hold like a charm!

Your parent's punished you because of the scrape? That's crazy. It was an accident. It could have happened to them as well. That sucks :s. Hopefully it's cheap to get fixed. I was quoted $650 cnd for a new bumper + paint for the little scrape I have.

yeah i wouldd take a picture with my camera if it wasn't already broken haha.but he just gave me a new quote after looking at it more throughly and said that now its gonna be $1054.18with the rear bumper being 260the clip that broke that was attaching the bumper to the other set of plastic-38to paint materials- 120to replace the tailpipe extension that wasn't really broken at all- 33

and it all came out to $451 but then for body labor hes charging me 247$ and for paint labor 275$. which ends up resulting in 975 plus tax which equals 1054.18i showed this to my parents and they said that this wasn't a deal at all and this is my friends dad too that was going to fix it. anywaythe damage that was done was 2 huge scratches in the bumper and the wheel well was bent upward [ my friend said he could bend it back and it would be fine] and that the clip that held the bumper in broke.if this has happened to anyone else please lemme know what's a good price. i gotta say after looking at the car it really doesn't look like a grand in damage but i don't know much.

I remember when my clip broke, I let my girl drove home one night when I was really drunk, and she ran over a curb with literally both tires, breaking the clip from my bumper (trust me thats her last time behind my wheel) Anyways I took my car to a shop to get my lip repainted since it was scratched up real bad. And for the clip he actually fixed it for free. He told me all he did was get two metal pieces and glued them over the remaining plastic pieces, waited a few hours and than reattached it. He said he did it for free because it wasn't a big problem at all, you and your dad should be able to do it without a problem. And for your dads friend, hes DEFINITELY overcharging you. I wouldn't do it, find somewhere else hah.

this will work. I PROMISE. It takes 5 minutes and the money it costs you to buy a washer and a bolt.

My ex-bf, when i first got my car, told me it wasnt safe to drive at night in the city even though i've been driving through the city since I started driving and decided to drive my car for me. Well, he ran over a median 5 seconds after we took off and my bumper popped out on the side . he wouldnt even take the time out to fix it for me...jerk.

yeah thanks for the help but i'm actually not really sure how to put the washer on because theres a washer still on the screw, and i wasn't sure if i would be able to get that off and then put it under the plastic piece because it would just snap back off with that plastic piece broken right?anyway i took some pictures on my friends phone, sorry theyre pretty bad..

damage done...

the plastic piece that brokeand this is the bolt and washer

yup thats what mine looked like minus the scratches. Just pop the tabs back in to place and have someone hold it all the way in. When you get to the end where the plastic is broken off, take the washer and bolt out, align whats left of the hole from the broken plastic to the hole on the car, place the washer on all of it, then put the bolt in and tighten it. It should stay. That's what I had to do. Good luck and DAMN ....those are intense scratches.

yeah i was able to get the screw and washer out but i can't align the bumper back up to where its supposed to be. Know matter how i try and match is up its still about 2 inches from where it should be.

You have to pull the bumper up and over to the left... the ridge in the bumper, goes above the ridge on the car, and it will line up... Take that bolt and washer out, get a bigger washer, and put it as bolt-washer-bumper-car and it should hold nice~
