I recently took my newly purchaced '97 j30 to my mechanic and he informed me that I will need to replace the rear disk breaks soon. I have done break jobs on other cars before, such as a '99 camry and '97 cavelier, and a dodge caravan. But I've never messed with a car like this before. Is there anything I should be aware of? Should I just leave it to the pro's?

why do you need to replace rear disc brakes?

the rotor?the caliper?or just the brake pad? yep probably just a brake pad

don't be shy, it's easy as hell, just remov the rear wheels and you'll be able to figure out what to do once you look at it

i'm not quite sure what the reason is yet. I'm gonna ask the mechanic when I go to pick up the car from his shop tomorrow (he's doing some other work).

If it generally resembles other disk break mechanisms, I'll take a whack at it!

Thanx for the help!

The brake job will be just as easy as any brake job you have done.
