Do you need a special tool to turn in the piston on the rear brakes (or the front brakes)?

Nope, you can turn the rear pistons with a pair of needle nose pliers. It is a pain, and your wrist will be sore when you are done, but it works. Just grip the piston by two of the four slots and twist. Try not to let the pliers slip of while twisting and pinch or cut your hand like I did. As for the fronts, I just compress them with a large pair of chanel locks.

Like he said, you don't need the special tool, it just makes it a lot easier and it's not expensive.
