I have a 1993 240 i cannot get the rear brakes to work.It has dics at the rear and no abs system.I cannot find a proportioning valve any where.I rebuilt both rear calipers and they dont leak any fluid.I replaced the master cylinder 3 timesthe first time with a remanufacture one and the 2 time with another remanufacture onethe 3 time i got a brand new one.I bench bled all of them i bled the entire brake system in the rigth seqence numerous times and still the brake pedal has excessive travel and the rear brake do not grab. I pluged of the port for the rear brake line on the master cylinder and the brake pedal comes to live.I dont know what else to do I`m thinking of going to the bone yard and getting a master cylinder that i know work and also getting the rear calipers too.help.................................................................

you obviously have air in the system somewhere in the rear. try using a vacu bleeder or a pressure bleeder to asist. or take it to a shop and have them bleed it with that equipment.

I had a problem where my pins where rusted in my floating caliper. I had to heat them up with a tourch and they poped out. I then had to grease them and buy a new pin boot kit. Just a suggestion. Like Nistech said check for air in the lines first. Sometimes it takes a while to get all the air out. Nick

It was trapped air in the rear calipers and it took alot off effort to get it completely out.I even took it to my local JUST BRAKES and they charger me $31.00 to bleed it and they could not get the air out they said that my master cylinder was bad but after installing 3 of them i knew it was something else and thats went i got on the internet and found this cool web site with some very good advise at no cost to me.thanks you all for your input.I now have rear brakes once againg.this was the most troublesome brake job i ever done and i have done approx 15 during my car tweeking days. Thanks againg:ylsuper
