I have new shoes all the way around. When it started smoking I checked the e brake not the issue. The pedal was rock hard and wouldnt release till overnight. It is still pretty stiff yet its ok now what do you guys think? My boss a mechanic for over 20 years had no idea.

Did this happen right after the pad replacement?

If so, the rear pistons were probably not retracted enough, causing them to drag.

Another issue I have seen with these cars is the master cylinder pushrod gets adjusted incorrectly and will start applying pressure as the system heats up and expands.
