Hello All,

I'm in the process of overhauling the rear brakes on my 1981 720 4X4. How does a person remove the set of three springs without mangling them? I have a new set of springs to install, luckily because I pretty much bent the old ones getting them off. Is there a better way than just grabbing them with pliers or trying to pry them off with a screw driver as I did?

Thanks,

Randy

i've always seen screwdrivers used... never had a hard time with them really though

i'm sure someone has a better way but the screwdriver works

Go to the local parts store and buy the drum brake tool, around $10.

Didn't know there is a tool for this. The manual doesn't show any. I'm accustomed to using a screwdriver.

Thanks for the help. Next time I buy the drum brake tool. I was able to get the new springs back on with Philips screw drivers. Hooking one end and letting the other slide over. It was a battle, but nice to have new brakes
