I bought OEM pads a 2 months ago and the front brakes came with sensors. When I bought the rear they didn't. They were semi-metallic. They told me that the O.E.M. brake pads for my car were semi-metallic? Is that true? If not then I'll rather spend more money to put on whats suppose to be there.

Sounds like you ended up with 1995 rear pads which have no sensors.

Pretty much all modern pads are semi metallic since they contain both metals and non metal fibers. The question is what percentage of iron, copper, titanium vs the percentage of various ceramic compounds vs crushed cashew shells and junk fillers and clays.

Did you buy pads from an Infiniti dealer? Are these 66U85 as last digits in model number?

OEM pads do not contain platnium nor does any pad [due to cost] might just be a marketing name platnium + to fool the uneducated?

The sensor [available separately] can be added to non oem pads which are built on oem pad plate with the appropriate hole to accept sensor.

Most cheap aftermarket pads just have a piece of bent metal which rubs as the pad wears down and makes noise [so called mechanical wear sensor].

Your FSM describes the pads and sensors.

He may be talking about the magnetic ABS sensors.

I'm just wondering which pads come stock on my 94 Q45, ceramic or semi-metallic? I would rather trying ceramic since I'm told that they limit brake dust, but are more expensive and wear faster than semi.

The best pad is the stock OEM pad. It's the only one formulated specifically for the G50.

Nothing is wrong with brake dust as it indicates the pads are wearing faster than the rotors, which is as it should be.

Spend some more time reading the previous posts and you will learn a lot, but not how to strike a pose.

Since 1989 the 90-96 rear pad has ended in U85. Nissan has changed the formula about 6 times to better reflect current desires of owners.

Every oem pad is a mixture of metallic, semimetallic, ceramic, carbon, and titanium components. Copper % has steadily decreased due to water pollution by copper dust [highway runoff].

I guess I should buy my pads from Joe at Scottsdale, since my nearsest auto parts store only sell the semi-metallaic and will have to special order the ceramic which comes with the rear sensors.
