My rear brake piston boot unseated while I was turning the piston back in.

What the best way to get them in without tearing them? Can I remove the piston and just seat the boot back in.

Will brake fluid spill out if I take the piston out?

Thanks.DK

I hade the same problem with my rear callipers but mine riped from age and being poped out for too long. I bought rebuild kits from autozone for $7 a piece and rebuilt both callipers ... brake fluid should not spill out if you remove the piston, but have fun getting it back in, it takes time an d patience. I hope you have a vice to hold the calliper while you try to screw it in.

Cool.

I disconnected the brake hose and tookout the piston.

However, I still can't get the piston boot to seat correctly when putting it back. Any trick togetting it back.

Also my brake fluid in just draining away.Any way to stop that?

Thanks.DK

get the seal around the lower part of the piston first then try to match up the part of the boot that mates up to the caliper. it'll give you some extra slack to work with.

brake fluid draining away from your master cylinder?

Update.I'm such a newb.

I disconnected the brake hose, and emerg brake and thentook off the caliper. Pulled the piston out, slid off the piston boot.Cleaned it up a bit. But a little break lube on the boot. Put the bootat the base of the piston , leaving room to seat the bottomof the boot to the piston housing. Then turned the back in.

Woo hoo.

But i realized that my bleede valve is seized.

Is there a way I can bleed the brake wihtout using the bleeder valve.

Not much you can do about the fluid bleeding from your lines. You can reconnect the caliper to keep fluid from bleeding everywhere.

You need the bleeder to bleed the system. What you can do is put back on the caliper on the knuckle and put a box wrench on the bleeder. gently tap it with a rubber mallet and gently impact it off. When you get the bleeder off, you can put a light coat of anti-seize on the threads of the bleeder.

Update. After a combination of PB Blaster, light hammering and(heat cooling hammering ) x 3, I was able to get the bleedervalce out.

The bolt head was barely holding on and on theverge of rounding.

Off to get new bleeder valves and bleed my breaks. Thanks for every ones help.
