From dealership experience, you can't really put a mileage stamp on how long pads will last. Give you an example, one of my Q-45 customers is a traveling salesman. We just performed the 60k maintenance on his vehicle and have yet to replace the brake pads on the front or the rear. Why? Because he travels throughout the southeastern states and most of the mileage is interstate driven, so in turn the brakes are used at the minimum level. On the other side of that scenario, we have a customer with a G-20 and runs a paper route delivering the newspaper, he might get 7,500 miles (if he's lucky)from his front pads. I have seen a few of the I's come in with premature rear brake pad wear, first thing I would check is be sure the rear parking brake cables aren't sticking or binding, second thing to think about, did they might by chance happen to drive away one day with the parking brake applied? Two things we always do when performing a (pad) brake repair. We soak the factory pads in BG brake quiet which will 99% of the time eliminate the possible of brake noise, second thing we apply the (gold in color) PBC grease to the back side of the pad and to the areas the pad slides between the hardware. The grease has a very high in lead content, which has proven to help cushion things between the pads. shims, and caliper. Method has worked well for us for many years in helping minimize brake repair comebacks!
