I have to replace my rear pads on my '91 Q45. I have Hawk pads up front. Can I replace the rears with stock pads or should I stick with same pads as I have up front?

This may be a stoopid question, but because i think Joe's is cloesed on Sundays, ill ask here. Does Joe';s pads have warranty on them? If so, what kind of warranty? Because if not, i may just go to Oreilly and buy the Wagners and get lifetime on them.

For 17 years the old Q have used the same U85 rear pad, however the manufacturers have oscillated over the years Hitachi and Akebono.

Same with the front pads, there have been 6+ versions usually with different part numbers 60U90,U91,U92, 60U93 then 66U91.

I would use the oem U85 on the rear regardless of what front pad was chosen.

Seemed to work ok with various Stillen, Metal Master, and others I tried on the front.

After all unlikely that any pad that will fit front will vary by more than 5% friction hot at least up to 600F...................cold friction and end of stop moaning is always the problem with Q aftermarket pads................

Be certain to get a 100% brake fluid system flush every time you change pads and bleed air from ABS bleeder screws.

Happy Hawking.

Get the OEM, I have used Akebono really great. Goond stopping power less fade. Paired it with EOM Brembo rotors. Sweet as can be.

The 90-96 Q is kind of unique in that Nissan uses the rear brakes more than most 4,000 4 door sedans................the rear pads and the front pads wear at equal rates [+-] so changing pads will show up as either faster or slower wear rates in comparison.

This [balanced performance] was possible due to antidive/lift rear suspension and the control from front tension rods.

The thought was you changed pads and retrued rotors at the same time you replaced tires [15-20k for oem].................fewer special service trips.

Since you were or your chaffuer was bringing it in every 90 days/3,750 anyway.

Lexus of that era [ Fixed in1996] stopped longer and barely wore the rear pads as did BMW on Mercedes had balanced pad life and this varied with models....S and E were balanced.

Use the same pads in rear, since the Q puts equal force on front and rear brakes.
