I just had my tires rotates on my 2006 M35X. They told me I need rear pads and I have to also get new rotors when getting pads. I have 52000 miles on it and have never had any brake issues. I am a 46 year old female who doesn't know alot about my car. The cost for all of this is approximately 475.00. That includes a brake line flush? What should I do?

Buy the parts from Joe at everythinginfiniti.com, the rear pads are $44.16 and the rotors are $68.72 each. Depending on the wear on the rotors, you may not need to buy them, they can sometmes be resurfaced for less than $20. A local mechanic will install then for around $100. It is a very easy job. I just did them myslef on an 04 M45 and it took me less than 1 hour and I am a pretty novice DIY mechanic. These are the exact same OEM parts they will use at your dealer.

One of the Infiniti techs on the board can comment on whether or not you need a brake line flush.

Replacing the brake fluid every 2 years or 30,000 miles is a very good thing to do - brake fluid absorbs water, and this can lead to reduced braking performance. So, if the brake fluid has never been flushed or replaced (and it is now over 50k miles!), then I would recommend doing it.

Under normal circumstances, going 50k or more miles on a set of pads is darn good! Was all of this highway miles perhaps?

Normally, you would need to replace the rotors every 2 - maybe 3 - sets of pads (or about 75k miles), when the thickness of the rotor gets below a minimum thickness specification. In that case, it cannot be resurfaced and needs replacement.

In the interim, if the thickness is sufficient, it can be resurfaced at less cost than replacement.

I would suggest having the thickness measured and see if it truly needs changing. Ask here with the measurement in hand and we will help!
