Rear brake lamp problem

Has anyone had problems with their rear tail lights? When the parking lamp/headlight is on and the brake lamp is depressed the passenger tail (inside) light goes out. When the parking lamp/headlights are off and the braek pedal is depressed the passenger inner tail comes on (dimmer filament) The driverside is extremely bright. It's not the bulb ..when the socket wires are pulled back slightly the lamp turns off. Anyone have any ideas or similair problems please share. Thanks I have a 97 I30
