I am replacing my rear pads and I have already put the new pads in but am having the toughest time lining up the caliper with the socket for the upper pin bolt. In this pic (compliments positronone) is this socket supposed to have play like the lower one can push in? This one is completely stiff and there is no way, even if I put the bolt in first to be able to swing the caliper down.Oh, I have retracted the caliper piston as far back as it can go.Thanks in advance

pull everything apart, remove the caliper bracket from the hub, remove the rotor from the caliper, see if that gets anything to let go so you can fix it.

So the piston is blocking you from swinging the caliper down all the way?

yes, the length it is sitting at right now is too short for the pads. I can get the pad on but it will drag.
