I took the ball joints out of my rear control arms this weekend while doing a brake upgrade. I've discovered that Nissan doesn't sell ball joints (you have to buy the whole assembly), but I've read that a B13 front joint will work.

I've also read that an '89 sentra ball joint will work and that the B13 is too big to fit. Maybe they both work.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I just pressed some MOOG 1989 Sentra front ball joints into my RLCAS and they fit like a glove.

I dont think you need a part # if you have the part description , but if you must have it , i can call my girl at NAPA tomorrow.

For pressing in and out , i used a C Clamp Master set , like this but the clamp is diffferent....

You sir, are my heero. If you could get a part #, that would be greatly appreiciated!

As you say, it was an easy install? I'm wondering if a shop press would be fine?

I guess a shop press will work , but it needs something to press ontop of the balljoint , and a open bottom for it to come out of. It was easy with that C clamp master set and i bigass vice.

Do you want me to take a pic of the C Clamp set i used?

Moog Part # is K9633

To remove, I used a BFH with a pipe underneath to prevent damaging the arm. For install I'm going to McGyver something up with a plate and some sockets that I saw a pic of...

Yes please! I'll probably use my shop press, but if this is better, I'll look for one of these.

Thanks for the part # Swinter!

Anyone know the part # for the front balljoints?

I just used a rubber mallet and was careful to make sure that the rubber boot didn't get torn. Worked like a charm.

I used the c clamp looking Loan-A Tool from Auto Zone to both remove, and install the new ball joints. Worked great for the front and rear taking only a few minutes to remove and install.

I have heard of people using the B12 89 Lower ball joint, and the B13 ball joint. And I read a ton of going back and forth on which one to use.

What is best to use I assume the 89 because its the same size 38MM as where the later B13 is a little larger 39 I think.

Also does it matter what model of 1989 Sentra?

S13 and S14 rear ball joints are not the same...
FlatBlackIan wrote:Just get front ball joints for the S14.

I just finished rebuilding my rear suspension, and I replaced the lower BJs while I was in there. I used Moog front BJs for an S14.

I checked the taper, and all other dimensions, and the new front, and old rears matched.
moog part #9820
