did a brrake job on an 89 s13. Front pads were great. Rear pads were worn at an angle.(see pict.) what gives to have pad wear like this. This problem exhists on both sides of the car. The calipers and all mounting gear look to be in great shape. Every thing seems staight and the calipers slide back and forth nicely on the pins. Are the rotors backspaced wrong (as in the wrong rotor for the car)? Also I'm assuming that the small pins on the back of the pads are supposed to nest into the slots on the caliper pistons. Right????? And if whoever did the last brake job did not fit the pins correctly is this the result????

i had a similar problem with my left rear brake. It was caused by the pad sticking to the sliding clips. There is supposed to be a silicone based lube on the area that the pad touches this clip. If its not lubed then over time the pad binds to the clip and doesnt release from the rotor when your done braking, basically dragging the whole time your driving. Are the heavily worn pads glazed over? It will have a shiney off color appearence compared to the fatter less worn ones.

Just my guess, NISTECH will have the final word of course.

what he said^

also as you stated if the caliper is not aligned with the pin on the pad it will cause the pad to sit off and pitch the caliper uneven when applying the brakes.

pad color seems about right. I just find it suprising that the pads would wear so un evenly( the pads w/ the most wear were on the outboard position , least wear on inboard position) Thats what makes me think theres something wrong in rotor spacing
